Notice to Mariners No. 71 of 2025 (Temporary)

SOUTH AUSTRALIA – OUTER HARBOR PORT ADELAIDE – BIRD ISLAND REMEDIATION

Mariners are advised that remediation works are underway at Bird Island. The construction zone is located adjacent to Swing Basin 5 and encompasses a 70-metre section of breakwater that has sustained damage over time and including impacts from recent storm surge events.

The scope of works will include:

Removal and disposal of unsuitable material

Re-use of suitable material where possible

Ground improvement works, including re-levelling

Supply and placement of geotextile fabric and rocks

Works have commenced and are expected to be completed by April 2026.

Mariners are advised not to enter this work zone and to navigate with caution in the vicinity. Mariners must keep a listening watch on VHF ch12 16/ 06
