Notice to Mariners No. 65 of 2025

SOUTH AUSTRALIA – YORKE PENINSULA – NEW AND UPGRADED NAVIGATION BEACONS

Mariners are advised that new navigation beacons have been installed or existing navigation beacons upgraded at Port Vincent, Port Julia and Sultana Passage on Yorke Peninsula as follows.  Positions of all beacons are in GDA2020 coordinates.

Port Vincent

The existing beacons marking the navigation channel to the jetty and wharf at Port Vincent have been removed and replaced with the following new lit and numbered beacons:

The lead beacons (bearing 206°) marking this channel have been removed.

In addition, the Middle Spit beacon at Port Vincent that was missing (refer to Notice to Mariners No. 44 of 2025) has been replaced and the range of the light (Fl W 2s) reduced from 5 to 3 nautical miles.  The new beacon is located in position 34° 45’ 20.31” S 137° 54’ 10.24” E.

Port Julia

The existing unlit port beacon in position 34° 41’ 26.25” S 137° 54’ 09.86” E near Port Julia has been removed and replaced with a new lit beacon nearby in position 34° 41’ 26.21” S 137° 54’ 10.18” E, Fl R 2s, range 2 nautical miles.

Sultana Passage

The existing unlit beacons marking the Sultana Passage between Edithburgh and Troubridge Shoals have been replaced with new lit beacons adjacent to the old beacons.  Details for the new beacons are provided in the table below:
